What is Item Watch?

Item watch notifies you when someone bids on the auctions that you have added to your Item Watch.

How to Ask The Seller a Question

When submitting a question to a Seller, the message gets sent directly to their email address on file, as well as their inbox in the system. The Seller can respond by following the link in the email.

To ask the Seller a question:

  1. Log into your account.
  2. Go to the Item listing.
  3. In the upper right hand corner, click the link for "Send question to the seller." This will take you to a Contact User form.
  4. Enter your name, email address, and your message.
  5. Click "Send" button.
  6. Note: Questions to the Seller may be posted publicly for other users to see. Be sure to check the previous comments to see if your question has already been answered!

How do I bid on an item?

Notice: The system will log you out if you have been idle for more than 30 minutes based on demand.

Auction - Bidding on an auction is done in specified increments. The user with the highest successful bid "wins" the auction and the ability to purchase the item. Auctions use Proxy Bidding (see definition below).

Buy It Now - An auction with a Buy It Now link can be purchased outright for a preset price, as determined by the Seller. Clicking the Buy It Now link will take the buyer through the process of purchasing the item.

Proxy Bidding - An automatic method of bidding that increases your bid to the next lowest price when another user bids on the same item. Your bid is increased until your maximum bid amount is reached or the auction ends.

Extended Auction - The seller’s goal is to maximize the return on Taxpayer funded assets. iBid will extend the auction closing time on assets in 3-minute increments until there is one clear, uncontested winner.

How am I invoiced, and how can I see invoices?

Invoices are created for each successful auction. An invoice is generated in one of three ways:

By the Buyer: If the Buyer pays for an item before the Seller has created an invoice, one is automatically created at payment time. It is visible to the Buyer in the Dashboard, via the Purchases link under the Invoicing tab.

By the Seller: Once a successful auction closes, the Seller can view the sales data via the New Sales link under the Invoicing Tab. From here, he or she can view the information, make any changes, and create the invoice. Once created, the invoice is then viewable under the Invoiced Sales link.

Automatically overnight: Each night, any successful auction that does not have an invoice associated with it automatically has one generated. Note: If a buyer has multiple successful auctions from the same seller and none of them are invoiced prior to midnight, the job will create one invoice for all sales. Sellers can split these invoices later if desired.

To view invoices, go to the Invoices tab on My Dashboard, then click on Purchases. Items that have been purchased will appear unless they have been archived.

How do I pay for items?

Buyers, please look at the bottom of the listing that you won for "Payment Instructions".

Here you will find how to make a payment. Some storefronts accept cashier checks/money orders and credit cards (online only) while some accept cash, personal checks, and no credit cards.
