1991 Chevy Pickup Truck
Description: This 1991 Chevy GMT-400 4x4 long bed truck boasts only 33,000 original miles. It was custom-ordered by the Palatine Rural Fire District on May 29, 1990, featuring a 454 7.4-liter engine and a 1-ton axle package. Equipped with factory skid plates and a 34-gallon fuel tank, the truck was rust-proofed from the start and includes a spray-in bed liner. Additional features include dual batteries, a receiver, and an electric brake controller. Recently retired from service, this truck has been fleet-maintained and primarily stored indoors, serving various roles such as a plow truck, brush truck, and utility truck throughout its years of service. It runs very well and drives nicely, albeit with its own unique handling characteristics. It's an excellent candidate for either restoration or preservation.
Mechanical Condition: The brakes function but are somewhat sensitive. The sale includes spare calipers and pads. The A/C and radio do not work. The transmission underwent a rebuild in 2020. The steering box was replaced several years prior, yet the truck exhibits excessive toe sensitivity. There are no significant leaks.
Exterior: The body is in excellent condition, retaining its original paint except for the roof. There are a few dings and dents, but nothing significant. The driver's floor is rusted and is the most severe issue with the truck, requiring replacement. Both the inner and outer rockers are in great condition.
Interior: The interior is in decent condition with normal wear and tear. The headliner is missing, and there have been some repairs to holes in the roof from equipment mounts in the past.
Tires: Tires are over 10 years old.
Miscellaneous / Notes: It comes with a mount and harness for a Boss Pro plow, though the plow and controller are not included in the sale.
